Upswung Corp  Read First Notes GT1000-GT2000

GT 1000, GT1500 and GT2000 Read First Notes for new installations-  Read the step by step instructions first.

·        PLEASE READ THE STEP BY STEP SUPPLIED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS THAT CAME WITH THE SOFTWARE FIRST OR SOFTWARE WILL INSTALL, BUT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY!!!

The installation instructions are located in the software supplied for your specific operating in a file. Also USB adaptor drivers are supplied, be sure to use them.

·        If your computer has a serial port then plug in the GT PC docking station directly into your computer.

·        If your computer doesn’t have a serial port then follow the instructions included with the USB CD Disc.   First, Click START>EXPLORE>DRIVE WHERE THE USB DRIVER DISC IS LOCATED>USB DRIVERS. Read & follow the Manhattan USB Driver instructions to install the RS232 to USB DRIVER.

·        DO NOT PLUG IN THE USB ADAPTOR INTO THE COMPUTER UNTIL THE SUPPLIED USB DRIVER IS INSTALLED FIRST.

·        Reboot computer then plug in the GT Downloader directly into the USB adaptor. Do not use a laptop/ PC docking station with the USB adaptor.

·        Install the emailed link for the latest  GT software: Click on emailed software link if supplied by us.

·        The Vm software/ instruction manual can be printed from the GT software or print from www.guard-tours.com under the GT1500 or GT2000 product information pages.

·        Remove the GT6000 cover with the special red colored tool and install the 3 AAA batteries included with the kit. These batteries are a very tight fit to ensure good contact under rough conditions.

·        Keep the red colored tool in a safe place and use only high quality AA batteries in the GT6000.

·        When starting up the GT software, the GT6000 Recorder must not be in the GT PC docking station otherwise the program will not find the GT PC docking station.

·        Once the GT software is running, HELP instructions are available. We recommend that you run through all the Menus to get familiar with the screens, then read the instructions.

·        Use the assignments tab to assign the stations only.

Incident Book

·        Use the Booklet tab to assign incident book iButtons 0-9, C,E in the order that the software directs you to. These iButtons are scanned with the PC downloader like the station iButtons were scanned only while in the booklet.

·        Go to Messages Tab to assign code numbers and descriptions for each code number.

·        DO NOT Delete codes # in the message tab, to change them use the EDIT button. If you delete a code # you cannot get it back unless you reinstall the software and start all over.

·        If you mess up go to Archives tab> purge all, then the Assignments tab>ID Buttons then write down the iButton #s, then delete the list of iButtons.

Troubleshooting Dos and Don’ts USB port errors

General speaking there are variations from computer to computer and USB adaptors are the biggest source of problems. An updated computer is very important and when possible connect the Downloader directly into a serial port to avoid problems by eliminating the USB adaptor altogether.

1.   Update your Operating System to the most current release.

2.   Install the USB driver for your operating system from the supplied disc (explore disc to find OS) after installed THEN plug in the USB cable. REBOOT THE COMPUTER, THEN PLUG IN USB ADAPTOR.

3.   Do not use USB though a laptop docking station

4.   If the USB doesn’t work on one USB laptop port close the program and switch USB ports then reboot computer, then restart the program

5.   Make sure the M6000 recorder IS NOT in the Downloader cradle when booting the program up.

6.   If you get a port error message when downloading a guard tour in the Recording page, then do not put the M6000 recorder until it is time to select the Download button.    Go to:  Recordings> Download/ Program>Download from M6000>insert recorder>   Download.

7.   If possible connect the downloader to a serial port at the back of the computer and avoid using the USB adaptor altogether.

8.   It is always better to use the USB jacks at the back of the computer instead of at the front computer panel.

9.   Never connect the Downloader through a USB hub.
