Troubleshooting
Dos and Don’ts USB port errors
General speaking there
are variations from computer to computer and USB adaptors are
the biggest source of problems. An updated computer is very
important and when possible connect the Downloader directly into
a serial port to avoid problems by eliminating the USB adaptor
altogether.
1.
Update your
Operating System to the most current release.
2.
Install the USB
driver for your operating system from the supplied disc (explore
disc to find OS) after installed THEN plug in the USB cable.
REBOOT THE COMPUTER, THEN PLUG IN USB ADAPTOR.
3.
Do not use USB
though a laptop docking station
4.
If the USB
doesn’t work on one USB laptop port close the program and switch
USB ports then reboot computer, then restart the program
5.
Make sure the
M6000 recorder IS NOT in the Downloader cradle when booting the
program up.
6.
If you get a
port error message when downloading a guard tour in the
Recording page, then do not put the M6000 recorder until it is
time to select the Download button.
Go to:
Recordings> Download/ Program>Download from
M6000>insert recorder>
Download.
7.
If possible
connect the downloader to a serial port at the back of the
computer and avoid using the USB adaptor altogether.
8.
It is always
better to use the USB jacks at the back of the computer instead
of at the front computer panel.
9.
Never
connect the Downloader through a USB hub.
